Ideally, your cake should be stored in the refrigerator within it's original box and tightly sealed (consider re-taping the side flaps down!) to extend it's yummy life! For cakes that have already been cut, we also recommend covering the exposed cake with plastic wrap to ensure freshness.
We highly suggest placing your order for delivery for day-of your event! By having your cake delivered day-of it's serving date, we can provide you with the freshest cake possible! Regardless, we recommend keeping your cake chilled in the refrigerator and remove from chilling at least 2-3 hours prior to it's serving time to let it come to room temperature.
For maximum freshness, we suggest enjoying your cake within 3 days of delivery, but we have found our cakes can last up to 5 days when kept in the refrigerator and tightly sealed (you can even pre-slice your cake and store in Tupperware!). Of course, if you would like your cake to last even longer, we recommend freezing your cake!
We suggest two ways of freezing your cake:
One option is to cut your remaining cake into slices. After slicing, first place your slices on a parchment covered pan or plate and freeze uncovered for two hours until frosting feels firm. After this, wrap each slice in plastic wrap and store in a Ziploc bag or freezer-safe container. For maximum taste, we recommend freezing for a maximum of 3 months!
Our second technique: first, place the whole cake into freezer for 2 hours until frosting feels firm. Once firm, wrap the cake in a layer of plastic wrap and a second layer of aluminum foil. For maximum taste, we recommend freezing for a maximum of 3 months!
First thaw the slices or whole cake in the refrigerator overnight (wrapped or unwrapped) and then let rest at room temperature (unwrapped) for a few hours!
